Ensuring A Safe Delivery
As manager of the New Jersey office, Chad often gets calls from clients seeking out a local business to haul their heavy equipment. A New Jersey-based airplane parts company needed to transport a custom-made aircraft horizontal stabilizer from Florida to Canada. Not only were they seeking international transport, but they also needed a rush schedule to ensure that delivery was completed on time. That meant Chad had to work fast to ensure every detail of the airplane’s horizontal stabilizer load, and the airplane crate going along with it, was done properly.
The first thing Chad did was ensure the client gave him the correct specs of the transport, so he could pull the proper permits for hauling. Once that was done, Chad sought out the best driving team to transport the airplane’s horizontal stabilizer. A team was necessary because of the expedited shipping request. With team drivers, one person sleeps, the other person drives. Then they switch, which allows for the truck to be on the road longer while ensuring the safety of the drivers and motorists around them.
Chad contracted a top-notch driving team with a step-deck trailer that was perfect for the airplane horizontal stabilizer freight. Because of the nature of the load, meaning they couldn’t drive the stabilizer onto the ramp, Chad obtained load assistance. He contracted experienced forklift drivers, who have high safety standards and the skills to safely load the stabilizer on the step deck trailer.
Once on the step deck trailer, the team secured the airplane’s horizontal stabilizers with safety straps and chains. The stabilizer had to stay on the trailer long ways, to ensure the wind wouldn’t push up under it and cause a road hazard. Chad directed the team in every aspect, to ensure that the airplane’s horizontal stabilizer was shipped the safest way possible.
