Louis has a repeat client that regularly requests transport for train parts. This month, they needed a 1995 Caboose transported from Roodhouse, Illinois to Fordland, Missouri. Since Louis has transported railroad equipment and several train cars for the client in the past, they knew they could rely on him for safe and efficient shipping. To begin, Louis got the dimensions of the caboose, to ensure he picked the right type of trailer and the best driver for the job. With the caboose measuring at 51L 10.8W 12.11 and weighing 48,000lbs, decided to use a lowboy trailer. What’s more, with the wheels at 34’6” apart from center, and the rails 56’5” apart on the inside edges, he thought it was best to ship the wheels and rails separately.
The caboose also needed load assistance. Since they needed to remove the wheels, Louis arranged for a crane. It lifted the caboose and the millwright crew removed the wheels. It was then lowered to sit securely on the lowboy trailer. The transport team and millwright crew made sure the caboose was safely strapped in for hauling. Everyone on the team, from the driver, to the loading crew, and even the millwrights were licensed and had the proper experience to move a caboose. It was safely loaded on the lowboy trailer, and after double checking that everything was to the highest safety standard, the driver began the 283 mile journey from Illinois to Missouri.
Because this is a repeat client, Louis knew exactly what to do. His experience helped him create a quick and efficient caboose transport. Louis knew exactly what permits to pull, and how to make sure the process was seamless. At Heavy Haulers we adhere to top safety standards, which is why Louis double checked that everything was done properly. The caboose was delivered the next day, safely and on time. Louis has transported railway equipment and train cars for this client since early 2022. Each time the transport exceeds the clients expectations.
The driver adhered to all DOT regulations on the journey. When he arrived at the drop off in Missouri, a crane crew was ready to unload the caboose. A millwright crew was also on standby to put the wheels and rails back on the caboose. The client commended Louis on another great transport, and promised to call again as soon as they had another train car ready to go. Louis’s exceptional transport skills bring client’s back again and again, because they know he’s reliable and gets the job done right. (239) 977-3923
