Shipping a CE Roberts Horizontal Spray Dryer from California to Michigan
Mike Phillips, a senior logistics agent with the Fort Lauderdale branch, received a call to transport a horizontal spray dryer. Not sure what that is? It was new to some of us at Heavy Haulers as well.
A horizontal spray dryer is a piece of equipment that converts food into powders and instant mixes. For instance, you can use a horizontal spray dryer to take liquid juices and turn them into a powdered mix for later use. It also creates instant coffees and teas, powdered eggs, and more.
The client who contacted Mike needed the CE Roberts horizontal spray dryer transported from San Bernadino, CA, to Martin, Michigan. The customer also informed Mike that he could not load the spray dryer. For Mike, that wasn't a problem.
Once he had all the details, Mike arranged for a driver with oversized transport knowledge and a lowboy trailer ready to go. Because the spray dryer is 13'3 ft high, they had to use a lowboy to keep it as low as possible, allowing access under certain bridges and powerlines along the route.
Requirements To Ship an Oversize Horizontal Spray Dryer to Michigan
The spray dryer's dimensions are 30 ft x 14'4 ft x 13'3 ft, weighing 30,000 lbs. Oversize load regulations vary by state, but the spray dryer was considered oversize in all of them. Based on specific state shipping requirements, pilot cars were necessary during parts of the trips.
The driver double-checked everything, and all parties signed off on the paperwork. Then, he began the 2,116-mile journey from California to Michigan. Mike pre-planned the route for the safest drive, along with the least amount of tolls. He provided quality, detailed oversize load transport services at an affordable rate for the client.
The driver adhered to all DOT regulations and driver requirements for each state. He delivered the spray dryer in just under three days. During transport, he made several quality checks to ensure the spray dryer stayed properly secured.
