Hauling Multiple Turbine Rotors
Hey Hauler Followers! It’s time for another featured transport. This month,
we’ve got a great transport, well, actually two loads, coming from Andrew Raucci in our
Fort Lauderdale Office.
At first, when the pictures came through, I thought it was the same
transport, but alas, It’s two separate ones. The same company worked with Andrew to send
two different turbine rotors to two different clients.
What is a turbine rotor? Good question!
A rotor is part of a wind turbine that connects to the generator. This can
be a direct connection for a drive turbine or through a shaft and a gearbox--or a series
of gears--in the turbine. The rotor speeds up rotation and creates electricity.
Not only did the company need Andrew to ship two turbine rotors, but they
needed them shipped from different facilities. So, Andrew needed to coordinate two loads
from two different states.
The turbine rotor dimensions are 8ft x 8ft x 21ft. If you’re a heavy haul
fanatic, you know that means it’s an oversize load.
Shipping An Oversize Turbine Rotor from Florida to
Illinois
The first driver picked up the turbine rotor load in Pensacola, Florida.
Because the rotor is so tall, Andrew ensured the driver had a lowboy trailer. Get the
high equipment as low as it can go for better clearance. He also ensured the driver had
a clean driving record, the proper licensing and insurance, and experience handling
oversized loads.
Andrew is always efficient when shipping heavy equipment.
