Shipping a Classic Bell 206B 3 Helicopter to Montana

The Bell 206 helicopter took its first flight on december 8, 1962. By 2010, Bell Helicopter ended production on the 206 models for good. One of our expert transport agents, Jackson Weeks, had the opportunity to provide shipping for a classic 1963 Bell 206B 3 Helicopter.

The client needed the vintage chopper transported from Lincoln, California to Hamilton, Montana. Larger helicopters are often transported as oversize loads, because of the shape and design. However, the Bell 206B 3 is sleek and falls within regulation load parameters. This varies by state,, but in general an oversize load is anything that exceeds 8.5ft in width, 13.5ft in height, and 75ft in length. The Bell 206B 3 helicopter is 34ft in length, 7ft in width, and 9.6ft in height, allowing for it to be shipped as a standard equipment load.

Jackson chose a lowboy trailer to transport the helicopter. This allows for easier access under bridges and power lines during the journey. The Bell Helicopter was secured, not only by the fuselage, but the blades as well were tied down, lining up with the trailer themselves, for a sleeker and safer for transport.
