The Strategy To Safely Ship a CAT 390 Excavator Super Load
While a standard excavator load is pretty straightforward, this massive excavator required a specialized strategy.
The CAT 390 excavator weighs over 200,000 lbs (yes, you read that correctly), so it needed to be broken down into legally haulable units of 160,000 lbs. The main portion was loaded on a specialized 13-axle RGN trailer. The fall off load (bucket and counterweight) required a second truck and a step deck trailer for transport.
Eddie pulled all the necessary permits to haul the super load legally.
However, super load transports always have specialized regulations they must adhere to, including limited routes and accessibility. This is for the safety of the equipment, transport team, and other motorists on the road.
The transport required front and rear pilot cars and police escorts out of Ohio, as required by DOT regulations. Eddie always adheres to the highest safety standards when transporting any load.
Rerouting The Excavator Super Load Shipment
Super loads are not easy to transport. But it's not Eddie's first rodeo, so when complications arose, and they had to reroute the shipment not once, but several times, he was on top of it.
When they were rerouted due to road construction, low-lying bridges, and other issues, Eddie had to pull new permits each time.
It caused a few delays, which Eddie and the client had expected and prepared for. Delays are almost inevitable with super loads due to restrictions, road closures, and other issues. That's why it's essential always to plan a shipment early.
Eddie's open line of communication with the client ensured that everyone involved was aware of what could happen to cause delays during transport.
Safely Delivering the $1 Million Dollar Excavator Super Load
There's a reason that the client trusts Eddie with his repeat heavy equipment hauls. Eddie provides clear communication, handles any and all complications or delays with professionalism, and ensures a safe delivery.
Thanks to early planning and quick action, the CAT 390 excavator was delivered to Texas safely and well within the time frame to start the demolition project.
This is why the customer partners with Eddie for all heavy equipment transports.
