Decking Trucks to Efficiently Provide Bulk Transport
Lindsay is one of the top driveaway and truck decking strategists in the country. That’s why once a customer works with her, they often become a returning customer. They know Lindsay gets the job done right.
In this case, a returning customer needed four Class 8 semi trucks transported from California, and the most efficient solution was truck piggybacking (decking).
While the order included multiple line items, the actual transport consisted of four decked units, consolidated into a single move. By using piggybacking, the shipment avoided unnecessary complexity and reduced overall cost.
The trucks were located between Dunnigan, CA, and Tulare, CA, requiring coordinated pickups before the load could be staged and prepared for transport.

Strategizing a Four (4) Truck Decking Load For Class 8 Semi Trucks
Truck piggybacking, or truck decking, is a method that allows multiple semi-trucks to be stacked, secured, and transported together using a single lead unit.
However, for this transport, the trucks were not all at one location.
The driver first headed to Dunnigan, CA, to pick up the lead truck. The lead truck is the driven truck that will pull the rest.
From there, he headed to Tulare, CA, to retrieve the other three Class 8 semi trucks.
Using a Wrecker to Deck the Semi Trucks Safely
Once the driver had all the trucks, he inspected and prepared each one for decking.
Then he called in the wrecker.
A wrecker is a heavy duty tow truck designed for lifting and recovery operations.
Each unit was carefully aligned, locked in, and secured before the next truck was decked. Once all the class 8 semi trucks were in place, the driver chained everything down to ensure load stability.
While it might sound easy, the decking process takes anywhere from four to six hours.
Safely Delivering All Four Semi Trucks To Joliet, Illinois
Once the trucks were fully secured, the driver began the trip from California to Illinois, transporting all four units as a single piggybacked load.
Lindsay provided a strategy that moved the semi trucks safely and efficiently across state lines, without the need for multiple drivers or trailers.
She knows how to streamline a transport.
When the trucks arrived in Joliet, the offloading process was simply reversed. A wrecker was used to carefully separate each truck, lifting them off the stack and placing them back on the ground one by one.
