How Heavy Haulers expertly hauled a 1999 Caterpillar Forklift and why we chose a Conestoga Trailer.
A client on a strict budget wanted to save money on a 1999 Caterpillar Forklift transport, as it’s a less-than-truckload (LTL) shipment.
John Shanley from our West Palm Beach, Florida office understood the client wanted to save money by transporting the Caterpillar Forklift as an LTL. So, he put out feelers for a driver that had other LTL freight, and would also fit the forklift.
There are several types of trailers that carry LTL’s including flatbeds, step decks, and Conestoga.
However, based on the client’s budget, John needed to find an LTL load that fit in the client’s price range.
Initially, the Heavy Haulers’ loaders placed the 6 ft. wide 1999After an extensive search, John found an LTL transporter hauling a Conestoga Trailer that had just enough space for the Caterpillar Forklift.
A Conestoga trailer is a type of flatbed trailer with a retractable tarp system. The driver can retract the tarp system to load equipment from the side, and then close it again for protection from the elements.
The transport estimate fit right into the client’s budget and the driver was close enough to fit within the delivery window.
John confirmed with the client and dispatched the driver.
The driver delivered the Caterpillar Forklift safely and on time. Plus, thanks to the tarp on the Conestoga trailer, the forklift avoided flying debris, like small rocks on the road. The Conestoga Trailer added an extra layer of protection, to ensure the forklift took no damage.
